John Brett

John Brett is Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of ArcelorMittal and was appointed chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal North America on January 1, 2021. John is also in charge of corporate strategy. John reports to Mr. Mittal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal.

John joined the group at former Inland Steel in 1988 as associate accountant and he progressed to become manager, specialized in financial analysis and systems, in 1997. In 1998 John took on the role of controller for Ispat Inland Steel. In 2005 he was promoted Vice President finance & planning and controller for Mittal Steel USA.

In 2012 John was appointed Executive Vice President finance, planning and procurement for ArcelorMittal USA. In his most recent role, since January 2016, John has been chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal USA.

John is a graduate in economics from the DePauw University and he holds an MBA from the University of Chicago
