ArcelorMittal recognizes its responsibility to the communities in which we are located.

We spend 40 percent of our community dollars on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) based activities and programs to cultivate the next generation of steelmakers, from kindergarten through technical school and beyond.

Our participation in these programs helps to train our future workforce, and keep the communities vibrant and sustainable for many years into the future.

Our employees also donate their time, expertise, energy and money to countless local organizations important to their communities.

Some of our focused giving in North America:

ArcelorMittal Dofasco has always invested in its people, and the company’s motto Our Product is Steel. Our Strength is People.® extends to the local community. To help support Hamilton and its people, Dofasco invests  in non-profit organizations annually. Each of these community partners is chosen for their dedication to helping the region and its residents grow.

Since WWII, Dofasco employees have donated a portion of their paycheck through the Employee Donation Fund to local causes, raising an impressive $40 million over 70 years.

Community engagement

Every year, ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to various organizations, causes and individuals to support their community initiatives. We want to play an active role in the communities in which we operate and where our employees live.

Education

Because we believe that education is key to personal and community development, we support projects at all academic levels, with a particular focus on higher education in fields directly or indirectly related to steel manufacturing and metallurgy. We prioritize investments in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.

Environment

Given our commitment to the planet, we support initiatives that maintain or restore natural habitats in our communities and that promote awareness of environmental protection.

In exceptional cases, our donations and sponsorships policy can also extend to local and international humanitarian aid following such events and crises as natural disasters.

To help support our community, AM/NS Calvert is partnered with non-profit organizations such as Mobile Baykeeper, Mobile Area Education Foundation, and the Gulf Coast Exploreum, among others, is active on advisory boards, and invests funding in these groups each year.

In order to maintain the dialogue with all stakeholders and keep them informed of our activities, initiatives, and operations, we hold quarterly meetings. As well as an update, our partners have the opportunity to meet with the leaders of AM/NS Calvert to discuss the needs of the community. Our doors are always open for our partners.
