Our R & D labs in North America are innovative hubs that work on process, product development and product application.

In North America, ArcelorMittal operates 2 R&D centers; one in East Chicago, Indiana and the other in Hamilton, Ontario. Nearly 230 scientists and engineers devoted to research on flat products, primarily automotive work in these two labs.

The North America labs played a major role in the development and promotion of 3rd generation advanced high strength steels, now a worldwide focus for light-weighting and safety enhancement in the auto industry.
