Michael Spitz

Chief Executive Officer, ArcelorMittal Texas HBI.

Michael Spitz was appointed CEO of ArcelorMittal Texas HBI in December 2024. In this role, he is responsible for setting the company’s strategic direction and overseeing overall business operations.

Michael joined ArcelorMittal Texas HBI in July 2022 following the company’s acquisition of voestalpine Texas. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer at the Plant, where he led advancements in safety practices, operational excellence, process technology, and capital investments. Earlier in his career, he held senior technical manager positions at voestalpine, applying his expertise in quality management, research and development, and customer advisory services throughout North America. His accomplishments include pioneering innovations in steel coating technologies, securing approvals for advanced high-strength steel applications, and delivering tailored solutions to the automotive industry.

Michael holds a master’s degree in Technical Physics from Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) and earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Technical University of Vienna. His groundbreaking research on electrode degradation during resistance welding has made a lasting impact on the global steel processing industry.
